PST Corruption

Hello,
We are having a strange, intermittent problem with Outlook
2000 (IMO). When a user opens Outlook, Outlook rebuilds
the pst files for no apparent reason. Outlook nor the PC
had crashed previously and there are no other symptoms or
indication why this might be occurring. The pst files are
not over the size limit, nor does anything else seem
incorrect.
Also, is there a way to check, or notify when the pst gets
to a certain size?

What do you mean by "rebuild the pst files"? Do you mean "creates a new
one"
