PST from Windows to Mac

Hi everyone,

I'm new to Mac, and I'm extremely happy with it, and with the Entourage
application, which I intend to use from now on.

My problem is that I don't know how to export all my messages from my
Windows machine (Outlook XP) to my Mac. The pst import tool I've found only
works between mac versions...

Any idea on how to solve this?

Thanks, from Spain

Create an account on the mac that connects to your exchange server - all
your mails and contacts will automatically sync across.

I don't use a Exchange server. All my mail is from a pop account, and is
stored in a .pst file along with other data (Contacts, Calendar data,
Notes...). I found the Outlook2Mac solution, but I hope there's a way to
import the .pst without having to pay for it.

Thakns, from Spain.

There is a way to make this happen, but it takes some effort. What I did was
to download the old Outlook for Mac client and used it to copy my existing
Outlook XP .PST file to a new .PST file with a new name. It will take
Outlook a long time to do this, but when it is complete the new .PST file
will convert with the MS PST conversion utility with no problem. At least,
it did for me. :)

Yes, fair enough, but Outlook 2001 will only run in an Exchange environment,
so you cannot use it if you're the average home user. There are a couple of
ways of moving data from Outlook into Entourage, but none of them are
pretty, or straightforward, for that matter. Juan, google this newsgroup,
and you should find plenty of posts with instructions; however, from what it
looks like, Outlook2Mac seems to be the most hassle-free solution available,
and for only a nominal fee.

If I remember rightly, Eudora windows can import mail from outlook, then
transfer the MBOX files to the mac (you may need to change the line endings)
and then drag the mbox files into entourage.

Hi.
I have used this great little program on several machines:
http://www.littlemachines.com/

It works a treat!
One thing. Clean out your mail boxes and make sure that there are no
messages from anything that has Administrator in the From field and Subject
line, as I have found that these emails somehow block the import.

Other than that - perfect and well worth $10 for the time saved messing
around exporting - importing-exporting-importing-
importing-exporting-importing etc etc

I bought O2M a few years back when I was just moving from Outlook to
Entourage. I think it was only $10 or something, might be a good deal
considering the effort that may be involved.
