Public Folder Favorites show incorrect "unread items" count

The unread items count shows one more item unread than
there actually are. This is show for some existing
folders, but when new folders are added to favorites,
they show the correct count.

How can i access and/or reset this number?

Also, when i go to properties on the public folder (in
favorites), on the General tab, the options for "show
number of unread items" and "show total number of items"
are grayed out.
