Publisher 2000-weird clipart size

Does anyone know why all the photos and clipart in a newsletter I am trying
to edit/troubleshoot happen to be about 351kb? I find this strange because
the original clipart and photos were of different sizes before they were
inserted. I guess I am trying to cut down file size to aid inprinting.
