Publisher 2000 with XP Pro seem to be in conflict

We were using Publisher V 2 with win98 and also win2000
and it worked great.. Bought a DELL computer w/2.8ghz cpu
w/512 RAM, using onboard video and that version takes 3
min 20 sec to create a template while my old AMD 1.0 Ghz
processor with 398 megs or RAM takes 3 seconds for the
same template.. Anyone tell me if it's because that
version of Publisher doesnt work under xp pro?
Second questions; I installed Publisher 2000 hoping it
would work under XP Pro ( with PUB updates etc)from Dell
and now I only get 2 color images... the background in
publisher is pink and the text is purple... all photos
imported show 2 colors only... yet adobe and other image
prorams show photos perfect.. what is going on ? Please
help as DELL have no idea .. I hope I dont have to
upgrade to Publisher 2003 only to find out it has
problems...

JoAnn your suggestions give me some hope.. however, I fear
the upgrading of the printer driver will be impossible as
the color printer in an older HP all in one, and I am told
that they did not really make a driver for xp Pro... Dont
ask me what is making the printer work, but for Word and
Excel it works ok.. as for Publisher, I believe that when
I printed out a sample template, the print came out ok
even though the visual on the screen was a two color
nightmare..
I've updated the xp pro pack, and even the publisher 2000
to SP3.. that made no difference.. No am waiting for DELL
to send me a tech on monday to change motherboard.. I am
using ON BOARD video.. so maybe that's what's screwing it
up.. yet other apps are showing OK color photos..
Also,, anyone, what about the HUGE difference between my
OLD publisher V2 on my AMD 1.0 Ghz processor with 390 megs
of ram with WINDOWS 2000 which takes 3 seconds to create a
template of an invoice.. but my new DELL 2.8 ghz with 512
megs RAM (with windows xp pro) takes 3 minutes 20
seconds ? Again thank you all for your patience, I just
need to figure out if I actually need to go and buy the
publisher 2003.. or add an AGP video card ?

If you buy junk/trash/garbage like HP you must expect to get no drivers
after the printer or any other piece of gear from HP is six months old.
HP do not even honour their warranty policies they are such a bad company.

Is there a driver available for Win 2000? Publisher can be picky about
printer drivers. It's entirely possible that your printer will work fine
with Word, et al, but not with Publisher.

As for your video, my personal choice is an AGP card but that isn't always
an option for some people. Check to see if there are updatd drivers for your
video chip. I was having some weird things happening with Pub 2002 that was
corrected by updating my video drivers. (If you can fit a new video card in
the budget, go for it. That's one upgrade that's generally worth the cost.)
