Publisher Pic Problems & VGA Driver - New ?

Hi,

I'm very frustrated. I too cannot see any embedded photos when I open up my
Publisher doc for editing. Tried everything in Help & now have read
everything in the Online Support. (Btw, I'm not absolutely positive but I
think this "invisible pics" problem started happening after I downloaded
Flash 8, as a last resort I will uninstall it).

Anyway, I have an Asus W5A laptop with Windows XP Pro. It has Intel Centrino
Mobile which includes an Intel (R) 915/GM Chipset driver. So following
suggestions on this site, I went to the Intel to find driver downloads to
update same hoping this will fix the problem with Publisher.

Donwload done, but halfway through the installation, I got this message:

"Continuing your installation of this software may impair or destabilize the
correct operation of your system either immediately or in the future.
Microsoft strongly recommends that you stop this installation now and contact
the software vendor for software that has passed Windows logo testing."

Alternatively, as suggested by Windows when I clicked on "Tell me why this
testing is important" in the download abort/warning window, I checked the
updates section of Microsoft to see if I could update anything to do with
drivers there in order to install safe "Windows approved" software....but I
can find nothing and performing a Windows scan for updates also offers
nothing.

Please help...I am loosing my marbles. All this just to fix Publisher? I
don't understand why this has to be so complicated!!! Aaaargh.

Please please help.

One other problem I forgot to mention: my document now loads much slower than
it used to, and where I have dumped "paintcan" colours into text boxes &
tables (Excel insertions), Publisher displays it in some sections but not
all...WTF?

I have just spent a good 6 hours straight trying to sort out these Publisher
quirks & reading everything here + on other sites + checking out Asus, Intel,
on and on, to no avail. I think Microsoft should provide some kind of a patch
for this problem and/or at least provide a relevant answer related to drivers
if this is the problem, when you type "see/show/display/view
pictures/graphics/photos" or any combination of same in the offline help
menu. At least that saves time spent looking for answers in a place you'd
reasonably expect to find something to go on, but where answers don't
actually exist...

.....anyway, back to waiting.....& again, ANY answers/suggestions to this
MSPublisher vs. Video Drivers battle would be appreciated (please see my post
below). Thanks again.
