I haven't used Publisher for a year or so (Ver. 2000) and today I started a
small project. While using a frame to draw a simple map (on a scanned
image) I keep seeing an hour-glass with a hand using a paintbrush, almost
every time I move the pointer. I don't recall seeing this before; what I am
doing differently that could cause this?

Regards and thanks in advance

This is because it is drawing the image, which takes a while if you have it
displayed at full resolution.
The time taken for this will slow down if you go View > Picture Display >
Fast Resize and Zoom, but this will make it difficult to trace your image if
that is what you are doing.

And to add to Ed's reply, the following can slow down redraws, which then
show the brush as you see in your case:

1. Video Driver
2. Video Card Memory
3. RAM
4. Processor
5. Resolution of Image
6. Number of programs running
7. Probably more

The only thing worse than the rat george w bush is bottom posting and
dwelling scum suckers

Mike Koewler

David,

Lay off Bush - or are you some kind of a girlie-män that loves Kerry?
Just kidding. But in all honesty, what if there were no scum suckers?
Imagine how the scum would accumulate. In time, it would bubble up from
the sewers (those tubes in the ground, not the ones who use a needle and
thread) and consume us all. Since Australia is "down under" and the law
of gravity applies, all the scum would migrate to Australia (I'm not
saying it already has) and the next time you go panning for gold, you
will have to dig through layers of scum, not to mention what you might
get on your back if you ride a bike without a good fender on it.

Mike,
Who can't wait for High School football to start.

george w bonsai bush is the most dangerous man in the world and should be
incarcerated in goal/jail for life.
I don't think you Americans realise how much the US is presently hated and
despised outside of the US borders.
Personally I don't have much of a problem with the US, however, the US has
become a gutless spineless do nothing godless weak country. I cannot for
the life of me see why the US voted for the wall in Israel. Is it because
all the purse strings are held in the US by Jews. I should also iterate, my
father was Jewish and do not have an anti-Semite bone in my body. I get
along with all races, religions and colours. I am highly tolerant of
everybody and you can do your own thing as long as you don't bother anybody.
When I lived in a place virtually right next door to a Hari Krishna
restaurant I loved frequenting their restaurant. While I did not agree with
all the Hari Krishna preached and their actions, it certainly did not stop
me eating in their wonderful restaurant. I used to enjoy having dialogue
with the Hari Krishna and discussing their point of view. I have great
friends that are Muslim and from other cultures, and a business partner that
is Chinese. I believe in do unto to others and treat others as you would
like to be treated. I don't care a damn what colour, race or creed people
are, just be social and kind towards others and be off assistance to others
when in need.
Having lived in so many countries around the world, you get to have an
understanding and importantly an appreciation for their life styles and
culture, even though they may not agree with the way you were brought up.
Tolerance and understanding of others are sensational attributes to acquire
in life, but when it comes to george w bonsai bush, the word evil flashes
all over the screen.

Thanks to those who responded regarding Publisher. No thanks to those
off-topic posters who indulged themselves in global rants; In many ways the
bottom-feeders of the Internet.
