Putting costs against milestones

P

P

Hi,

i am trying to allocate material resources to milestones to indicate costs
being incurred when items are received.

MSP won't let me do this without increasing the task duration to >0, hence
no longer a true milestone and padding my schedule. Is there any way to
force materials onto 0-lengths activities?

thanks,
P.

Hi P,

Welcome to this Microsoft Project newsgroup :)

Try View/Table (entry)/Cost and insert the data into the Fixed Cost cell.

FAQs, companion products and other useful Project information can be seen at
this web address: http://project.mvps.org/faqs.htm

Hope this helps - please let us know how you get on :)

Hi P,

Another option in addition to Mike's suggestion is to create the material
resource and enter the cost for the material resource in the "Cost/Use"
field. Assign the material resource at zero units (to avoid increasing the
duration). This will carry the cost for the material resource to the task
based upon the cost per use.

Hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.
