question about profiles

In Outlook you can create profiles that each contain different email
accounts. For example work and personal email profiles. Then when you
open Outlook, you can set it to open a pop up box that allows you to
choose which profile to open. You can set this up through the Mail
utility in the control panel. This keeps all of your emails, tasks,
contacts, etc separate. Is there any way to do this on a Mac with
Entourage 2004? This is also helpful when you have more then one user
on one machine.

What I am trying to avoid is having all email accounts come into one
email box, even though you can separate them into folders
automatically.

In Entourage they are called Identities. Under Entourage in the menu bar
select to Switch Identity. You can create new, rename, delete etc. To have
the window show up when Entourage starts be sure to check the box at the
bottom of the window "show this list when opening Entourage".

On the Mac when you have more than one user, it's recommended that you set
up a User's account for each user in System Preferences. You can use Fast
User Switching to easily switch back and forth or you can use log out/in
without having to restart.

In addition, I know you said you like to keep your accounts separate, but
Entourage can do this easily with rules. By having separate Identities, you
won't get the full benefits of Spotlight search as you can only have one
Identity set for search. Also when switching Identities you have to quit all
open Microsoft applications.
