Hi

Is it possible to send a fax through Outlook 2003 without having to add a
contact with the fax number?
I just need to type in the fax number in the "To" field.

Hope you can help me!

Best regards
Lasse

It all depends on your Fax software, which you did not include in your post.
If you need to have something integrate with Outlook for faxing, then I
would check that products specifications for the answer.

I don't have any fax program installed other than the Microsoft Fax service.

It's because we need to integrate fax through e-mail with Microsoft C5. So
when the customer pushes Fax in C5 it automatically opens a mail with the
fax number and the attached file from C5. The problem is that if we use
"Mailto: <Faxnumber>" it won't work because it isn't associated with a
contact.

Does this make any sense?

You say it depends on my fax software. Do you have any idea of which
software I should use???

Outlook 2003 can integrate with Windows 2000 Fax, SBS Fax, and Windows XP
Fax for modem faxing. It can also integrate with several Internet Fax
providers.
You'll need to provide a more accurate description of how you want to fax.
What do you mean by fax through email? Programmatic faxing requires the
one-off format [Fax:nnnnnnn]

I want to be able to push a button called "FAX" in Microsoft C5 and when
it's pushed it should open a mail with a faxnumber in the recipient field
and a .PDF file as an attachment.
When I do this I can't send it because the faxnumber I have entered isn't
associated with a contactperson.
The fax service is installed on a Windows 2003 Small Business Server and it
works fine if I select a contactperson with a faxnumber.

You say it requires one-off format which is Fax:nnnnnnnn, but if I open a
mail and type Fax:nnnnnnnn it won't work.

Hope this is enough information for you.

Best regards
Lasse

Your question belongs in a programming group.
Programmatic faxing uses the format I posted. It will also work when you
type it in the To: field. Did you used the brackets?
