quick retrieval in few keystrokes

I used to be able to type the first several letters of a
name and a person's name would appear -- the more letters
I would enter, the closer to the desired contact I would
get (understand?). With OUtlook 2000, I have to either
type out the entire name or go into Contacts to select the
name. Is there some way to get this feature activated?
I'm sure I did used it in a previous version.
