quotes in REPLY TO:

Hello:
Can someone explain why sometimes I can highlight a phrase in an email in
the preview panel then hit reply and it is quoted (like it should be given
the check in mail preferences) YET other times the message I am sending
starts blank.

I know it¹s something extremely logical like the way the message is
formatted (HTML vs plain) or something but I cannot narrow it down.

I would like to always be able to highlight a sentence or paragraph in a
rec¹d email, hit reply, and start my response with the selected text quoted.

On a derivative question I would like to have this quoted material in a
different color type, right now just the name is, possible or pipe dream?

Thanks for the help.

This is a HTML vs plain text issue.

Plain text is colored in replies. HTML is not.
