Re-install Entourage - does MS User data have the lot?

I need to remove Office 2004 and re-install again from original CD. I
need to do this because I migrated to my new iMac and found a Test
Drive for Office there which I didn't need. I moved it to the trash and
am now having problems with my original version.

Does the "Microsoft Used Data" folder and in particular "Office 2004
identities" have everything I need in it - accounts, rules, email
messages, signatures, the lot?

What about other users, should I back up each individual's directory
too?

Mostly everything ENtourage needs is in the MUD folder. You need to make
sure it's properly backed up for all users on the Mac. The uninstaller
doesn't touch the MUD folder (though it sure doesn't hurt to be safe on
this regard).

If you uninstall Office, you might lose some of the other customizations
though (pref settings, Normal template, etc.). Make sure you also backed
up anything you believe is valuable before you proceed.

Yes, moving to the trash won't do; you'll have to uninstall it with the
Remove Office tool that can be found in Microsoft Office 2004>Additional
Tools>Remove Office. Remember that when uninstalling the original version,
too!

Yes. Office 2004 Identities stores all the identities, and if you open your
identity's folder, you'll see four different files, Database, Rules,
Signatures and Mailing Lists, which contain all the relevant Entourage data.

You should backup the Microsoft User Data on a regular basis, in case
something goes wrong. There's no need to backup each individual's identity
as the MUD contains all these identities; just make a copy of the MUD folder
and you should be fine.

By the way, removing Office (remember, use the Remove Office tool!) will
leave your MUD untouched, so there's theoretically no need to back it up.
But then again, you should play it safe, so go ahead and make a backup. When
you've reinstalled Office and applied all the updates that are available,
you should be able to launch Entourage and keep using it as if nothing had
ever happened.
