My Entourage e-mail crashed yesterday. I tried to rebuild the
database using both Typical and Advanced modes and received error
messages indicating that the database was corrupted and it could not
be rebuilt.
I then used Disk Doctor from Norton System Works to analyze and fix my
hard disk. It ran overnight. I rebooted and my e-mail came up fine
this morning. I rebuilt the Entourage database anyway just to be safe
and everything is working fine now.
Last night I was just about to restore Entourage with the backup copy
that was three weeks old. Using Disk Doctor saved me three weeks of
lost e-mails. If you take the Microsoft warning message for granted,
you will think your database is completely non-recoverable.
