Entourage X (SR1 v10.1.4) under OSX 10.3.4 on iMac G4 with 1gig.
Entourage breaks weekly or more. I keep rebuilding the database and it
starts working again, but then breaks again.
The break usually coincides with my receiving some kind of (spam) email in
HTML format and my hitting the trash icon to delete it. I then get a window
popup that says "an error has occurred". Then when I move my cursor over the
icons for mail, calendar, etc, they are replaced with a gray dot pattern. I
am also unable to close the program other than by Force-Quit.
I reported the breaking problem here before and was referred to the rebuild
database procedure. Yes that does get Entourage working again, but only for
a few days and then the same thing happens over and over and over again.
As (with the excption of Entourage) the Office 2004 appears to be just
bloated with features I neither need nor want, it is beginning to look like
I may need to switch to Apple Mail, Calendar, and Address Book to get
dependable functionality. This would be a shame, as I've used Entourage for
years (and the very similar Outlook on the PC before that), and find it to
have a feature set which precisely matches my needs.
