Rebuilt database removed msgs from server??

After rebuilding my database yesterday, I now see that the server for the
dominant account no longer has messages older than yesterday. Checked the
options, and they are still set to leave messages on the server for 14 days
or when deleted from the computer.

Is this behavior I should expect and plan for? In this case, little could
have been lost, but I do that in order to be able to keep all messages on
both my desktop and notebook computers. Now the notebook will be missing
some.

Aberrant or predictable?

Aberrant. A rebuild should not have touched any message son the server.
