Receipt of new messages delayed in view window

Installed and configured Office XP Pro and applied SP3 and security patch. When launching Outlook (Exchange 2003 host), all new messages received do not display until I click into the view window. I have even tried sending a message to myself and found that this behaviour is still the same. This has only happend to 2 or 3 systems out of 100 and others receive their mail displayed immediately

Please advise.

I also am having this problem, but with only 1 machine
out of all I support. VERY FRUSTRATING as MS web site
offers no help.
I will continue to hut for an answer and check your
posting. If I find anything, I'll update.
