Received Time is Not Time Message was Sent

Last week, out of the blue, my Entourage 2004 email started coming in
with the wrong time stamps. Usually if I check messages in the morning,
the time stamp will be 7:35, 9:13 etc. based on when it was sent. Now,
if I check mail at 8:05 a.m., all messages come in with a time stamp of
8:05.

If I open each individual email, the header shows the time it was sent.
How can I correct this?

Thanks!
Mike

It sounds like the view has been set to 'received', rather than 'sent'.

If your folder listing view is 'preview pane below' or 'preview pane off',
you can change the columns displayed with a control-click in the column
headers.

Thanks. When I switch the view to Preview Pane below, the Sent times
show up correctly. However, I prefer to have the preview on the right
and when I switch over to that view I lose the "Sent" times and see
only the received times -- even though I have them sorted by "Sent."

A week ago I had the right-side preview panel with the sent times, now
I don't. Any way to get this back?

I appreciate your help.

No you didn't. You only imagined you did. (It usually only becomes evident
when you get a message whose sent time was a day or two earlier. More often
than not, that usually means it was sitting around in somebody's Outbox all
that time, or else they have a faulty Date and Time on their computer. Since
emails take only seconds, not days, to flit around the globe, the true Sent
time is very close to the Received time except when you've had your own
Entourage closed, of course.)

As you've seen now, Preview pane at Right _displays_ the Received time for
received messages, although you can sort them by Sent time. The exception is
for official Sent Items folders, where your own sent time is displayed on
the sent messages.
