Receiving Calendar Invites

Marco Star

Hello!

When I receive a Calendar invite from someone, especially from an PC
Exchange user, the invite when received in Entourage generates an email
instead of an actual Calendar invite window with all the options. The
Accept/Decline/Tentative buttons are grayed out, and I can't even see the
date and time of the actual meeting because in the body of the "email", the
whole thing is blank. I did find a way to see the date and time by clicking
on the "re-wrap" button. But that gave me a error about HTML and whether or
not I wanted to disable it?!?! Weird!

Has anyone seen this? Or experiencing this?

Help would be MUCH appreciated!

Thanks!

Oh...

And I may have forgot to mention that I tried this configuring my account as
a POP and IMAP account. Both ways, the same thing happened.

Thanks!

Does the message have an .ics or .vcs attachment? If so drag it out to your
desktop. If it's a .vcs change the extension to .ics. If the .ics file has
an iCal icon (most likely) rather than Entourage icon, do a Get Info (cmd-I
or control-click and choose Get Info.) In the Get Info panel, select 'Opens
With' and choose Entourage. If you don't use iCal and don't want to have to
do this again, now click "Change All". The .ics file now has an Entourage
icon. Double-click it and you should get an invitation window with the usual
options.

Hey Paul!
Thanks for your reply!
No, unfortunately there is no attachment. The only way I know that this is a
meeting request is by the little icon under the "Message Status" column.
I'm using Entourage 10.1.4 in OS 10.3.3 on a G5.

Thanks!

Well, in that case, especially if you are on the same Exchange server (is it
version 2000 or higher?), see how it goes when Entourage 2004 comes out.
It's meant to improve Exchange functionality significantly.

Of course if your Exchange server is older (5.5, for example) that would
explain a few things. But even with 2000, the fact that Entourage 2004 uses
IMAP for mail may be affecting the status of invitations, or maybe there's
just an error in the Exchnage settings somewhere. I'm not an Exchange
expert, and don't even have it. Sorry. Maybe someone who knows Exchange
better will be along soon.

Hey Paul!
Could this have something to do with iCal?
I'm not even seeing the calendar invites populate in the Calendar.

Thanks!
