receiving duplicate emails in entourage

I am receiving many duplicate emails in entourage from my POP3 account.
I am also using iMail and do not receive duplicates.

After a rebuild, you can get duplicates. Servers can also cause this, but I
suspect your problem might be in the way you have your account set up to
download in two different applications.

You might find that an IMAP account would better serve your needs.

POP and IMAP are two protocols that mail programs use to access mail stored
on remote computers. IMAP works by keeping mail on the server. POP works by
downloading your mail to your computer. More info:

To get rid of duplicates use one of the scripts to remove duplicates.

I do now understand why my Outlook, which I use at work, never downloads duplicate message, but my Entourage, which I just started using on my laptop, does. I have both set up as a POP account and I have instructed both to leave messages on the server so they can be downloaded to either computer.
