Receiving JPG and GIF files in HTML emails

Hi

I am using Entourage on Panther.

When I receive HTML emails with jpgs or gifs in then they are not displayed
but are shown in the attachments list instead, with a placeholder in the
email.

I have set the mail preferences for complex html. It seems there are many
similar problems that people have. Does anyone have an idea?

Also, when I forward an html message, It loses all of the formatting before
I send it. It stills shows as HTML in the format menu.

Thanks for any help.

I want to just clarify.
The images are embedded and "work offline" is not checked.

Thnx

Hi

Any image Entourage finds embedded in a message will be displayed in the
attachment pane. That's just the way it works.

Be sure you have the pref in Mail & News Prefs:View to show attached
pictures in messages.
Also, when I forward an html message, It loses all of the formatting before
I send it. It stills shows as HTML in the format menu.

Entourage can only compose simple HTML messages (more like RTF with just
simple text formatting). For more advanced stuff like tables and DHTML and
such, it will be converted to simple HTML when forwarded.

Two workarounds. Either use Redirect instead, which will retain full
fidelity, or drag the message from the message list into a new outgoing
message to send it as an attachment.

Hi
Thanks for the help. But it still doesn't work with received emails.

The redirect works well though.

Go to Entourage -> Mail and News Preferences, click the "Read" tab, and make
sure the options to "Display complex HTML in messages" and "Allow network
access when displaying complex HTML" are both checked. Click OK to set your
preferences.

There is a bit more explanation on The Entourage Help Page:

Hi
Thanks again, but I had don¹t those things already and it's still the same.

I could send you a sample of a problem.

Has there been any resolution to this yet? I'm having the same
problem, and the fixes suggested earlier did not work.

Thanks!
