Hello. I am using Microsoft fax console. I am confused about
receiving faxes. It seems that a line sharing regular phone service
creates a problem as the fax answers any ring when it might be a
person calling Any way around this? Thanks.

No.
You did not identify your Fax software. I assume you meant Windows XP Fax.
If so, no Windows operating system based on the NT kernel supports
distinctive ring.

The alternative is to install an external switching device to your phone
