I had been using Entourage version X and unexpectedly one of my accounts wouldn't let me open it. It gave me this message "This Identity cannot be opened with this version of Entourage". I hadn't switched versions or done any upgrades and the other identity accounts were still able to open.

I figured that I needed to switch to a new version and maybe it would let me access that account again, so I switched from Office X to Office 2008. Unfortunately the new version still wouldn't let me open that account (and I also had to manually move the other account's data over).

Does anyone have any ideas on how to access that old data? I tried Entouraid and the test version seemed to work (it gave me 20 recovered emails) so I ordered the full version (I paid for it) but haven't gotten a response from that company (I think they may have gone out of business?) I also tried to rebuild as instructed in the guides, but if I restart Entourage X with the 'option' key held down, the program opens and nothing else happens.

Any thoughts out there? I would really appreciate it! Thanks.....

Evidently there was some change. This error is always a result of not having
the correct version installed.

"This Identity Cannot Be Opened With This Version of Entourage"
This message usually means, for example, any Identity saved with a 12.1.0 or
later version will not open in 12.0.0 or 12.0.1. Since there was a database
format change in 12.1.0 (SP1), Entourage 12.0.0 or 12.0.1 cannot open a
database saved in the later version.

Once you upgrade, the Identity will open.

You have to import your data from Entourage X to Entourage 2008. It's not
automatically done for you.

Select Import form another version. If the Entourage X Identity is grayed
out, you will have to manually move from X to 08. If it's corrupted you
cannot import.

How to manually move your data. (when import fails and/or you need to move
to a new Identity same version or revert to an older version)

Does anyone have any ideas on how to access that old data?
