Recording actions/procedures in another application

Hello,
I am a facilitator interested in demo-ing a series of new procedures in a
windows based application. I would like to know if PPT can record these
steps and play back what is captured in the presentation?
For example, I would like to record the mouse movements to the menu bar,
showing menu list, showing the dialog box, then the resulting window. etc
(similar for flash demonstrations on websites showing new features of an
application)

If PPT does not do this natively, what workaround can you suggest?

I would recommend using a program that records screen activity as video.
