Recovery of lost emails

Hi i just recently reformated my computer to the extent
where no files were lost. my isp said that the emails
recived through outlook express 6 should still be on my
computer ready to be imported but i seem to having
trouble finding those lost emails. my os is windows xp
and i have outlook express 6
