Recurring Task with Multiple Durations

Hi there - MS Project 2003 Newbie needing help!

I have a task with the following time requirements:

- August 11.25 hours
- September 5 hours
- October 5 hours
- November 5 hours
- December 10 hours
- January 10 hours

I would like to see only ONE task.
And I will divide the required monthly hours by week (ie. Sep = 5 hours,
would like to see 1.25 hours/week)

What is the best way to do this?
I've looked at splitting a task as well as the recurring task features.
Is there an easier way??

Appreciate your help!

Hi,

No easy way to do what you want on line. The obvious way is to use the
recurring task and manually modify the duration each occurance.

If you are resourcing this activity, the other way, which is again manual,
is to change the hours worked against the resource in the resource sheet.

Hope this helps a little.

This does not sound like an appropriate use of a recurring task to me, but
there are many ways to accomplish the same thing in Project. I suggest that
you create your task and switch to the task usage view. Zoom to months and
enter your planned work just like you posted it. That should do it quick and
easy.
