Redirecting Exchange mail

K

My university is migrating to MSExchange for their web-based email. I
have always redirected my school mail to my Gmail account, and wanted
to do that with the new system, but apparently Exchange will not allow
redirecting. I have set up account access with Entourage (11.2.5),
hoping this function was blocked only on the web-based interface.
Alas, it seems Entourage does not allow redirecting for an Exchange
account either.

Is there any other way to do this?

Thanks,
Katie

Hi Katie!

Exchange does have some server-side rules that can be set via Outlook
for Windows (unfortunately, not Entourage nor OWA). These rules are
"server-side" because they are executed by the server, which means you
don't have to keep an email client open to apply the rules.

One of the rules you can set is "redirect it to people or distribution
list". Therefore, if you can get access for a few minutes to a Windows
machine with Outlook and configure it to connect to your Exchange
account then you'll be able to set this rule.

Keep in mind that to disable this rule you'll have to use Outlook on
Windows again.

If your Exchange server will not redirect mail (contact your server
administrator to be sure), it may have been purposely disabled to
prevent redirection.

Hope this helps! bill
