Recovering from brain surgery

I hate going online when I have a question about Word, Powerpoint, Outlook,
etc. Can anyone recommend one or more good reference books?

I would suggest going to a local bookstore and looking over the general
books.

The quality varies from author to author, and even among versions for the
same author.

And don't get fooled by seeing an author's name on a book cover. It is not
uncommon for an author to no longer be doing more recent editions, and
others have taken over. Sometimes the additional/new authors are listed,
other times, they are ghostwriters.

Sight unseen, if I were to gamble, I'd suggest starting the MSFT Press
Inside/Out edition for each product of interest.

You may get more specific suggestions if you were to ask this question,
separately, in a newsgroup devoted to each particular product,

Thank you! I just did a quick search for MS Press
Inside/Out publications and found what I was looking for, assuming these
books are similar to those MS used to include with its software.
