Is there a standard e-mail header field that Outlook and Outlook Express
will include as-is when replying, to be used in eg. tracking purposes?
RFC 2822 describes References: as part of the trace headers (In section
3.6.7), but at least my Outlook seems to be eating that up. (Not
surprisingly, Pine works like magic)
What I need is to pass a header in a system-generated e-mail message, that
would be used to identify which messages are being replied to. The system
is a service ticket system, and it would be most helpful if there was a
non-Subject:-way to perform:
- System gets a message without "trace" tag => Creates new message
- System sends an auto-reply with a "trace" tag to sender
- When sender replies that that message, the "trace" tag is intact
- System gets a message with "trace" tag => Appends stuff to ticket
