refresh method in the main form and sub form

I do have a main form and a sub form.
Sub form is related to the main form by asset id, so it shows many records
in the sub form for one asset.
While in the sub form I would like to see the partent (main) form to refresh
itself and go to the record that I double click on in the sub form.
I have tried few things, but I feel helpless. I used to use Visual Fox
which was more flexible.

I'm running Vista Home Premium. It's been fine for months, all of a sudden
scripting is not functioning in IE7, browser add ons not working, media
player will not launch at all. Cannot submit a question to Support as it
uses scripting....which is specified as enabled in my settings, but not
functioning. I suspect the problem started with an auto-update, but not
sure. I can't tell if it's a security issue or what.

Any suggestions?
