REHEARSE TIMINGS PROGRAMME ERROR ?

Hi, I have set up a PP show, consisting of a series of 8 /
9 slides with one text box on each slide, containing
lyrics, and an embedded 5mb song file on the first slide,
set to play automatically on start.

I am using high spec laptop, have defraged, put the sound
file and PP in the same folder on HD, using single screen
laptop, turned off other applications ( CTRL+DEL )

So far so good, however when I use ( Rehearse Timings )
option, there is an increasing margin of error with the
slides progressively "slowing" causing them to become out
of time with the words.
I can manually compensate by adjusting the slide
transition, however, I should not have to !! and it takes
forever to do it.

Is it a fault in PP ? or is there an answer to my problem ?
