Relocate Microsoft User Data folder...how?

Does anyone know if there is a way to specify that the Microsoft User Data
folder be relocated on the drive of my choice, rather than being required to
be by default in the root directory of the boot drive?

You don't indicate what version of the Mac OS (9 or X) you are running, but
in OS X, the default location of the MUD is in the Documents folder of your
user folder, not the "root directory of the boot drive".

You could move the Microsoft User Data folder to another drive, and create
an alias of the same name in the user Documents folder.

My mistake and oversight; yes, I'm using Mac OSX (10.3.9) and you are
correct, the Microsoft User Data file is in the Docs folder of my user
folder. Regarding the alias idea, I tried that, but Entourage ignores not
only that folder alias, but also if I keep the actual folder and only alias
its contents, Entourage ignores them. It always creates a new MUD.
Frustrating!

You might try a symlink, but having the Microsoft User Data folder on
another drive is risky.

The alias must be named EXACTLY like the original item - 'Microsoft User
Data' without the quotes and with no 'alias' at the end. Since a new folder
is being created you can't have got the name right.

Barry, you de man! It works when I remove the word 'alias' from the end of
the alias name. Guess that was too easy for me to grasp :)
