Remove attachment from message in Sent Items folder of IMAPaccount

I have an IMAP account accessed with Entourage 2004 (11.2) at Tiger 10.4.2
and Outlook 2003 at Windows XP Pro SP2.

One message with attachments I sent through Outlook 2003 was copied to Sent
Items folder of the IMAP account by rule because Outlook 2003 would not
upload outgoing message of IMAP account to server. The rule was run after
sending the message.

Because of large size of the message, I wanted to remove the attachments.
However, Outlook 2003 does not provide such kind of facility. On the other
hand, Entourage 2004 does provide. I accessed the message with Entourage
2004 and tried to remove the attachments. I did not get any problem doing
so. Entourage 2004 indicated that it was successful with message size
reduced.

When I viewed the message from Outlook 2003, it was still a big message.
Attachments were still there.

Does it mean Entourage could not remove attachment from message that is
created with other email client?

Is there any way to remove attachments?

On a remote server (IMAP or Exchange), Entourage will only remove the
attachment from the local (cached) copy of the message, not the server-side
copy.
