Remove Groove from Vista

B

Brian S. Bergin

On a virgin install of Vista users are forced to deal with a menu item
called "Groove Folder Synchronization". There is no Groove being
used in the office and it won't be used. I find no way in Programs &
Features to turn this feature on or off. It's also funny how Groove
is owned by MS but the groove.net site makes no mention of this. So
are we're forced to look at junk we'll never use and provided no way
to remove it?

Sincerely,
Brian S. Bergin

Hi Brian -

Can you clarify where this menu item is? I'm looking at a clean install of
Vista and I don't see any reference to Groove.

The "Groove Folder Synchronization" menu in explorer is from Office 2007, not
Vista.

I don't know how to remove this menu item, but if anyone does please post
how to!
I have no use for it, and find it very annoying.

Cheers,
Murray

If Office 2007 is installed in the default directory, do this.

1. Press winkey+r (run command).
2. Paste this in the location bar (without quotes).
"regsvr32 "C:\Program Files\Microsoft
Office\Office12\GrooveShellExtensions.dll" /u"
3. Done.

If Office 2007 is installed in another directory, paste this into the
location bar instead.

"regsvr32 "[INSTALLATION DIRECTORY]\Office12\GrooveShellExtensions.dll" /u"
