Renaming Categories

I need to change many of my category names in Outlook so that they are less than 15 characters in order to sync properly with my handheld. Can I simply "rename" a category, or do I have to add new ones and reassign all my tasks?

You can't rename categories. Even when you delete a category the item still
holds the category assignment.

Yes, you need to add new ones, but you can easily change existing items in the By Category view, by selecting all in a given category, right-clicking, then choosing Categories, and removing and adding the ones you want.
