Replace cell identifier in long string formula

Teresa

I've put together a long string of cells to add together. Then a copy and paste it into another cell two columns over. It automatically changes the string of cells in the forumla to two columns over as well. However, I want the newly pasted forumla to be for a string of cell that is only 1 column to the right of the first string of cells. I thought I should be able to go into the forumla bar and replace the cell identifier, but that does not work. Any suggestions?

Copy and paste it into a cell just one column over; then drag that cell over
to the next column.

As I said (perhaps not very clearly), if you paste the formula into C5 you
will get the result that you want. Then just drag and drop cell C5 onto cell
D5. Not elegant, but quick.

Thank you for your reply, however that doesn't quite fit my situation. I
am working in a worksheet with various numerical values in cells L2:p200.
