Replies at top of email... Not bottom

Just wondering if anybody knows how to configure Entourage so that when you
click reply it puts the cursor at the top of the email to reply, putting all
of the previous messages under the reply you are typing.. Currently you have
to scroll back to the top of the message and return down the previous
messages... I'm sure there is a setting to change this, does anybody know
where it is?

If you put the reply at the top then every reader will have to scroll
down to read the quoted text and then scroll back up again to read your
reply. If you add the response at the bottom (recommended), then the
reader can read through the quoted material and be better prepared to
put your reply in context.

Top posting is common practice in corporate environments where all
recipients are already familiar with the previous messages, and only
need to really read the message at the top. The previous posts are
appended as a record of who wrote what, but are only referred to in
history. In fact Exchange (for PC) employs top-posting as default, and
that's why most people now do it in that environment.

There are several options in Entourage allowing you to customize your reply
format. By default, your reply and signature will both appear at the bottom.
These preferences are located in Edit -> Preferences -> Mail and News under
the Reply and Forward tab, under Mail Attribution.


If you want your insertion point below the quoted text and your default
signature below that, select "Use internet-style attribution lines" without
checking the box below.

If you wish for your reply to be on top but your default signature to remain
on the bottom, select ŒUse Internet-style attribution lines¹ with ŒPlace
insertion point before quoted text¹ checked.

If you want your cursor to appear on top and your signature below that (but
before the quoted text), select ³Use short header-style attribution lines².
In Entourage 2001, you can still achieve the same effect using
internet-style attribution lines. Direct download the Reply Insertion Above
AppleScript.

In Entourage X, you can reply at the top just for specific messages,
including news messages, with the script "Reply Insertion Reversed". (Script
ID: 301)

Note: Some lists require bottom posting replies to list messages. Top
replies are used more in a business setting.
