'Reply' messages do not contain original text.

I have tried all of the mail attribution options under preferences;
however, when I reply to a message the original text is never included.
Any help would be appreciated.

Under the preferences, select the 'reply & forward' pane, then check the box
against 'include entire message in reply'.
