Reply tag error in French 2004 version

Hi,

In the French version a space is added after the "Re" so every mail
you reply to starts with "Re :" and when someone replies to you with
another application or anyother version of Entourage you get a subject
that starts with "Re: Re : ...." And when you reply it goes on to
"Re : Re: Re : ....." and when... should I go on? ;-)

Is there a small patch to clean this? Because it gets people
frustrated in the Office and they're starting to want to change mail app
for only this reason since they can't always remember to change the
"Re :". The clients may think they don't work with correct tools.

Yeah, it's a known bug... I know several other people who also
complained about it. Let's hope the MacBU will fix it in a future update
:-\
I'm not aware of any sort of patch that would correct this for you :-(

It's the same with the fact that you have "Tr :" instead of "Fwd:". I
don't know who's in charge of the translation but if this person knows
pretty well typography rules in France he or she has nerver heard of
RFCs. Thank god the other teams in German, Italian, Spanish... do not
corrupt things that way.

Concerning the patch here's a manual one in rot-13 and I'm sure there
is one running around that is more user-friendly.

First, make sure you've applied the latest updates. In Entourage, go to
Help > Check for Updates (use the appropriate French translation if
necessary), and download the updates.

You can edit this yourself using a resource editor:
"Does anyone know how to deactivate the strange localized prefixes for the
topic in Entourage 2004? I need "Re "instead of German "AW "for replies and
"FW" instead of "WG" for forwarded Mails. Any hints?

These are stored in STR #25386, items 6 and 7 of the Microsoft Framework
file. Using a resource editor like Resorcerer
<http://www.mathemaesthetics.com/ResorcererInfo.html>, you can change them
to whatever you want. [Advanced]"

That doesn't fix it unfortunately Mickey. Bernard made the same comment
about this issue a while ago :-(

Le fait est...

The problem with playing with the resources is that the updater might
not properly perform future updates. I would definitively keep a copy of
the source file around to be able to restore it before you run the next
update.

It's a very nice trick though :))
