Reply to messages on the top line not the bottom

Hello,

I am trying to set up Entourage on OS 9. When I reply to a message, the
curser appears at the bottom of the screen below the original message. How
do I set the default to place the cursor at the top of the original message.
It seems more intuitive that it be there, and I do not know where to set the
default. Thank you.

Since people in the western world normally read from top to bottom, adding
your reply to the bottom makes much more sense. It is even enshrined by RFC
1855 as the recommended way to reply. Top posting is evil, and the source of
many flame wars :)

See <URL:http://www.greenend.org.uk/rjk/2000/06/14/quoting> for some good
arguments.

And before you think I'm on my high horse, a joke:

A: Because it messes up the order in which people normally read text.
Q: Why is top-posting such a bad thing?
A: Top-posting.
Q: What is the most annoying thing on usenet and in e-mail?

(In answer to your actual question, I don't know how 2001 did it. In
Entourage 2004 and v.X you can set it in Preferences>Mail & News
Preferences>Reply & Forward. But, well, don't :)

Cheers,

Chris

It's similar. In Entourage 2001, go to Edit -> Preferences -> Mail & News,
click the "Reply & Forward" tab, and check the option to place the insertion
point before quoted text. right under the option to use internet-style
attribution. Click OK to save your changes.
