Repost: please help locate most recent database

Over the weekend I had the dreaded lost identity -- went to open Entourage X
and it acted like I had never used it before. I tried switching identities,
(no luck) and not knowing what else to do, quickly tried a database rebuild
to no avail.

I had rebuilt the database about a week prior to this crash, and managed to
use the "old" versions it had saved in that rebuild as my database and
database cache, but that means I lost all my email from the previous week.
What I'm trying to figure out is where is the database and database cache
that existed right up to the crash? Don't they have to be there somewhere?

The files that are dated that morning are not nearly large enough to be the
right ones, and I've tried renaming all of those "database" and "database
cache" I still don't get my messages in any combination of those I've
tried...I realize I'm lucky to have that week old version, but is there any
chance I could find the complete one? I now have so many "databases," "old
databases" and old database caches I have no idea what's what.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
