Resending e-mails with database attached

I am trying to send an e-mail with an Access database attached. Every time I do this, Outlooks keeps resending the e-mail and it never leaves the 'outbox'. I've seen it try to resend 30 or 40 times. I have to cancel all tasks and delete from outbox to stop it. HOWEVER, the e-mail does go through...sometimes several times....to the person I'm sending it to? Does anyone have suggestions?
