Resize/Rewrap bug in Entourage 2004

I just discovered a major bug in Entourage 2004 for Mac OS X:

When composing a new email message, if you RESIZE the window smaller
than the current window size is, the outgoing message that you are
composing will NOT properly rewrap to fill the newly-resized window.
The text will actually DISAPPEAR off the side of the window where you
can not see it. The text simply does NOT rewrap at all.

Is Microsoft aware of this huge problem?

Thanks,
Scott

More info on this: This bug only happens when you are composing a TEXT
message, not an HTML message.

I see this too. I'm curious about why you call it a "huge" problem. How
often do you shrink messages to narrower than the fairly narrow default?

You can make sure your complaint is logged by using Send | Feedback.

But I'm not totally sure this is a bug--isn't there some internet standard
that defines the width of plain text messages? Entourage doesn't seem to
wrap the text in the composing window at all, to any size. In fact, the
Fonts preference seems to say that plain text messages are fixed-width.

I think wrapping text to the plain text composing window would be a feature
request?

This worked just fine in earlier versions of Entourage, so it's clearly
a bug in this version, not a feature request.

I call it a "huge" problem, because it has the potentital to screw up
people when they're typing outgoing messages... it just messed me up on
an outgoing message earlier today which is when I suddenly discovered
the problem.

My default for composing messages is not narrow -- the default is that
it remembers the last size that you set. And sometimes, I like to
narrow things down to see what's going on behind the window. The point
is that this has the potential to mess people up, and it wasn't in
earlier versions.

You're confusing the preference about plain text messages...
fixed-width is how it displays the fonts for both outgoing & incoming
msgs, but has nothing to do with wrapping when composing an outgoing
message.

I've submitted it to Microsoft.

Right. Workarounds might be using Expose or cmd-tilde to cycle through
windows instead of manually shrinking them, when you need to move them out
of the way. Composing while looking at another window might not work so
well, though, unless a rather wide screen.

Does your text wrap at all, to large or small windows? My text seems to be
the same width no matter what size the window is, in Entourage 2004 (11.1),
composing plain text. (the usual width is about 7 square icons and 3 icons
with text). I interpret this as narrow on my screen, but it may not be on
yours. But I'm not sure you are seeing the same behavior.

Right, I am. Since I'm not using a fixed-width font, I forgot.
