Resolving "Mail error" message for Office X

I am running Microsoft Office X for Mac. In Entourage I am receiving the
following error message:

"The action could not be completed. Mail error."

Although I can receive mail, I cannot send either via menus or buttons.
None of the icons or buttons on the tool bar work. I must use the menus
instead - though even on the menu I cannot send mail. I have reinstalled
the program without success.

Any suggestions?

Try rebuilding the database. In Entourage X, first go to Entourage > Turn
Off Office Notifications. Now, quit Entourage, and then restart Entourage
holding down the Option key. When the Rebuild dialog box comes up, choose
to do a Typical Rebuild. If that does not fix the problem, repeat the
procedure, instead opting to do the Advanced Rebuild.
