Restore backup?

R

Rocky Moose

I have accidentally wiped out my Entourage address book by syncing a
different handheld instead of my own. I clicked the cancel button as soon as
I realized what was happening, but by then the Entourage address book had
already been replaced.

Two questions:

1. The Palm handheld had a different user name than my own. Does this mean I
can somehow get my old address book for my own profile back? How?

2. I do run backups of my computer. If the answer to quesiton #1 is "no",
then what files should I restore in order to get my old address book back? I
don't want to restore my entire Entourage (calendars, notes, etc) -- just
the address book.

Thanks for any help!

Open up the hotsync conduit settigns and set the entourage conduit to do a
'handheld overwrites entourage' for the address book, then sync you own
handheld - the entries on the handheld should be squirted into entourage.

All this data is held in the database, which is all held in the 'Microsoft
User Data ' folder in 'Documents' (the 'MUD' folder). You could install the
backup copy as a second identity (just create a new folder in 'Office X
Identities' and copy the database and associated files into it). Then switch
to the old identity ('Switch Identities' under the 'entourage' menu) and
export the contacts (file menu). Switch back to your regular identity and
import the contacts again.
