restore website giant font size to normal (not all affected)?

When entering some websites (eg the initial MS Online help site) the font
size is so enormous that I cannot possibly navigate or use the site. Using
the font controls only helps very marginally and not by any means enough.
This happens on only 20% of sites for some reason but is quite unacceptable.
Using XP and Internet Explorer.

If you have a wheel mouse

hold down the CTRL key (on your keyboard) while scrolling the wheel on the
mouse towards you. This makes text bigger.... moving the wheel the other way
makes text smaller
