Retrieving Entourage files from Office Xafter upgrade to Office 2004

Processor: Intel
Email Client: pop

I upgraded from Office X to Office 2004 but failed to back-up my existing mail/address books.
Is there any way to retrieve them from the ether?

Unless you deleted the Office X Identities folder, your data should still be
there. Did you delete Office X when you installed? Office 2008 has
difficulty importing from Office X.

Diane,
On your advice, I found a folder called Office X identities.
Inside it are five documents;
Database Cache
Database
Mailing lists
Rules
Signatures

Database is a large doc, 2.25 gb
The others are tiny

I tried importing Database thru Entourage 2004 but they are greyed out when I go to import them.

I am not working with Office 2008.

Any advice is much appreciated!

Holy Smokes! It worked! I imported the Office X identities thru a different route and everything loaded into my new program.

To the best of my memory, I followed the path you or someone else advised:
1. Open Entourage 2004
2. File > Import
3. In Import window, select first option, "Import information from Entourage archive".
(The first time I tried this, I selected "Import from program", which did not work as the program is gone)
4. Click forward arrow.
5. Navigation path; User > Documents > Microsoft user data > Office X Identities > Main identity.
6. Click right arrow on Begin Import window
7. Watch it load: emails, folders, address books, etc.

help, after I tried syncing my calenderevents from entourage to Ical (for my Iphone), I lost all my events in entourage!!! Is there a way to restore them? thank you for any help

Not unless you have a backup.

Import the Identity under a different name so it does not overwrite your
current Identity.

Export your events as an Entourage archive (.rge) file. Under File Export,
select second option "Items to an Entourage archive" and select only events.
You can then switch to your current Identity and import this file.

Please start your own thread the next time you have a question. Anyone
having problems with their calendar files would not be looking under a
thread about Office X to find an answer.
