"Returned Mail" Spam Attack

R

RickGreg

Recently, I've been overrun by spam that all has a subject along the lines
of: " Returned mail: see transcript for details".

All the messages are addressed to my domain, with a nonsense prefix
([email protected]).

I'm probably getting 50+ such messages a day. Any thoughts on how to
combat? Thx.

Hi Rick,

well, if the subject is always identical, or has some parts that never
change, you can set up a rule to delete these messages on arrival. To do
that, go to Tools>Rules, then click on the tab that applies to your e-mail
account, i.e. POP, IMAP or Exchange. Create a new rule and specify the
following criteria:

If all conditions are met
* From is not a contact
* Any recipient ends with rcnospamgregory.com
* Subject is <type a word that is part of every single message's subject
line, such as "transcript", "or "returned mail">

The accompanying actions should be
* delete message
* do not notify

If that doesn't solve the problem, post back!

You ought to be able to reject any email that's not addressed to a valid
email address. Talk to your Web/email host for that. Art
