Row Selection Column

Glenn

If I open a new blank project, I see the ID column in the left-most position.

To the left of the ID column is a row selection column that is blank and
uneditable.
A project that I currently am working on does not show the row selection
column
as I must have made it go away somehow.

How can I get this row selection column to reappear.

thanks in advance

Hi Glenn,

I would like to understand
Normally the ID column IS the row selection column.
There is nothing to the left of the leftmost column
Could you rephrase?
Thanks

Hi Glenn,

Welcome to this Microsoft Project newsgroup :)

I think you are referring to the Indicators column. Right click the next
column heading (Task Name?) and select Insert Column. In the dialog, select
Indicators.

You might like to see FAQ Item: 11. Hidden Column.

FAQs, companion products and other useful Project information can be seen at

Hope this helps - please let us know how you get on :)

If I open a new Project I see an empty non-editable column and just to the
right of it I see the ID column with row numbers in its cells that are
non-editable. The left most column in my current working project somehow
went bye-bye which allowed me to select an entire row. Any thoughts on how
to bring this back.

BTW, Thanks for your answer on crews and resources. I imagine this could
somehow be passed in programmatically using VBA.

thanks again

The grey column at the far left is the ID column, it just doesn't have
a header label. If the ID column to which you are referring is white,
but still non-editable, then you really have two copies of the ID field
showing, and don't need them. you can right-click on the header of the
white column and hide it, and the task numbers should still appear in
the grey column.

Mike,

The indicator column does not allow me to select an entire row. The only
way I can highlite the entire row is to drag my cursor through all of the
fields whereas if I had a row selection column, which shows up when I start a
new project, I could just click on the row at the leftmost column and it
would automatically highlite the entire row.

thanks for your help

Glenn,

I think at some point the default table on the project you're having
trouble with probably got modified. Go to View>Table>More Tables. The
table that is highlighted should be the one that you're currently
viewing. Click Edit. The first field listed should be ID. The option
"Lock first column" should be checked. If these are both the case, then
I'm again at a loss. If not, that should fix the problem.
