rule doesn't unset the message waiting icon!

Outlook 2002, SP1, on XP

I have a rule that marks a message as read and then permanently deletes it.
Problem is that the little message waiting envelope in the bottom right
corner doesn't clear. So now I can't tell when I have a new message.

Any fixes for this, it's obviously a bug? Thanks.
